Vince Clark knows what it means to come full circle. From growing up in Kankakee to running one of the top-producing insurance agencies in the country, his journey is proof that success doesn’t require leaving your hometown—it just requires vision, resilience, and heart. Vince’s early years were rooted in Kankakee, where he attended school until sixth grade before moving to Bourbonnais. His professional journey began there too, quickly earning promotions at Enterprise and other roles. Despite opportunities to move away, Vince made a bold choice: to return to Kankakee and plant roots through business. “I used to want to leave,” Vince admits. “But family, community, and a desire to raise my kids here brought me back. I realized success isn’t about where you go, it’s about what you build.” That realization became personal following the loss of his firstborn son. During that heartbreaking season, a mentor - Mike Williams, a State Farm agent from the South Side of Chicago - guided Vince toward entrepreneurship. That same mentor held his son’s life insurance policy. The power of that moment inspired Vince to enter the industry, not just to protect families, but to empower people in his own community to succeed. In 2021, Vince launched his own State Farm agency in Kankakee. By the end of 2022, Vince’s agency received both Honor Club and Ambassador Club recognition – all by the end of his first year! But Vince isn’t measuring success by numbers alone. He’s mentoring new professionals, hiring local talent, and showing young people from Kankakee that they can thrive without leaving. “You don’t need a college degree to get started in insurance,” he says. “Licensing takes about four to six weeks, and we invest in training. I’ve seen team members go from zero experience to earning more than they ever thought possible.” Vince is serious about workforce development, not only for his team but for the region. He points to growing opportunities across the city: new businesses, infrastructure upgrades, and a more competitive talent pool than ever before. His agency is licensed in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri - and he's pushing his team to think beyond boundaries. Still, for Vince, it’s not just about insurance, it’s about impact. "Leadership, consistency, and people development are the core of what we do. I’m proud of the team, not just what we’ve achieved, but how we did it - together.” When asked what “I Am Kankakee” means to him, he doesn’t hesitate: His advice to the next generation? Be consistent. Be curious. Ask questions. Start conversations. “Don’t wait for someone to hand you the opportunity, go make one,” he says. “Kankakee has room for that.” His go-to local favorites? Brickstone for dinner, Nancy’s Pizza for a quick bite, and the Kankakee Farmers Market for early morning walks and fresh produce. Vince Clark isn’t just writing policies. He’s rewriting the narrative of what's possible when home becomes the foundation for success. He is leadership. He is mentorship. He is resilience.
“It means legacy. It means showing people what’s possible. It means proving that success is here, and we’re just getting started.”
He is Kankakee.
