Economic and Community Development Agency Partners with Ivy League Farms to Host Industrial Hemp Basics Event

Kankakee, IL – The City of Kankakee Economic and Community Development Agency has partnered with Ivy League Farms to present Industrial Hemp Basics v2.0. This is a free, educational event for the community to learn about Industrial Hemp. Topics will include hemp policy and licensing, growing practices, processing, marketing, the International Hemp Market, construction with hemp, and more. The event will be held in the 4th Floor Auditorium in the Kankakee Public Library at 201 East Merchant Street in Kankakee on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.

“Ivy League Farms is excited to coordinate another Industrial Hemp Forum, in partnership with Kankakee’s Economic and Community Development Agency, educating farmers and the community at large about how Industrial Hemp is important us,” said Evera Ivy, CEO of Ivy League Farms.

“The City of Kankakee is a primed location for the expansion of hemp. Our regional ecosystem can play a significant role in the way hemp is grown, processed and manufactured into the hundreds of products in which local industries can benefit,” said Mayor Wells-Armstrong.

“It is my hope that attendees of this event will leave with a clearer understanding of what industrial-use hemp is, how it is different from medical or recreational cannabis, and how it will be a major player in the modern manufacturing world. We have assembled an excellent and varied team of presenters to further educate our region about the future of this industry,” said Brad Benoit, ECDA Business Retention and Attraction Coordinator.

Presenters include representatives from Ivy League Farms, the University of Illinois Extension Offices, Soil Biotics, Illinois Hemp Grower’s Association, and Tulip Tree Gardens.
