The Kankakee River Edge Redevelopment Zone (KRERZ) will help revive and redevelop properties along the Kankakee River. KRERZ provides several incentives authorized by State law, including sales tax exemption and property tax abatement. 

A Public Hearing will be held by the Planning Board on February 13th, 2024, at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers (Donald E. Green Public Safety Building, 385 E. Oak St.) to discuss the creation of a Zone in Kankakee, including the boundaries of the zone and local plans, tax incentives, and other programs that will be established in connection with the zone.
