The City of Kankakee has partnered with neighboring communities and Kankakee County in the formation of the Kankakee River Enterprise Zone.

The River Edge Redevelopment Zone Program (RERZ) helps revive and redevelop properties adjacent to rivers in Illinois.

Tax Increment Financing utilizes incremental property taxes attributable to new growth as a way to incent private investment, and to finance needed public improvements. TIF Applications are currently closed until the Fall of 2025.
